Says he thinks the game would be worth it at $34.99 Macross talks about how it feels like it is trying to copy 3k but feels more like a re-skin with cash grab DLC content, how the gameplay quickly feels dull and how it looks like 3k but plays like Rome Total War 2.

Guy got it for free and gave it a negative review.

Holy Mountain talks about getting it for free but not really being worth the full price if paid for. Sapienite talks about how the game is in comparison to 3k and how it falls short in both historical and fantasy styles, as well as overall confusion due to too many resources, confusing UI and art styles, and no visual flavor between many factions. Here is a list of negative reviews I found.

Terrain effects (mud, water, etc slowing movement of heavier units) are also pretty cool and a first for the series Since these units are fairly limited, they actually feel special and impactful on the battlefield due to their relative rarity and unique abilities. This won't apply to the Mythos or Historical version (which I have yet to play), but the "monster units" add an interesting strategic element since you have to control the corresponding "monster spawn" on the map to recruit them. This isn't for everyone and is a reason many dislike saga titles, but I feel the smaller scope let's you focus in on details that would otherwise be lost and also let you tell a somewhat more character driven story. The trade barter system is a fun change of paceĪ well defined campaign goal (take or defend Troy). A few things I like about it are:īest graphics in the series at present while also boasting higher framerates than Warhammer 2 or 3 Kingdoms due to great optimization. If not, we would probably need to wait to the last 4 months of the year.Probably my second favourite total war after 3 Kingdoms. I guess we might have some news in March or April. If this is the case it needs to be announced at the latest in April. This would imply that the next game might release (unless it will be delayed) in late 2022. If WH3 had not been delayed (first trailer said "coming 2021") we would have one Total War game per year (starting from 2015). One can wonder when the next title will release. Most of them also tend to be announced in the first four months of the year. So, in most cases TW games tend to be announced 2-4 months after the release of previous title. WH3 was announced 6 months after Troy release. Troy was announced 4 months after 3K release. ToB was announced less than 2 months after W2 release.ģK was announced less than 4 months after W2 release. WH2 was announced 9 months after W1 release. WH1 was announced 2 months after Attila release. Hmm, if we take a look at recent releases: We have no idea what type of game this will be or if any of the aforementioned teams have been working on it. There's also the new Three Kingdoms project that CA alluded to during their blog when they announced that Three Kingdoms will no longer be supported. I don't think it is entirely out of the question that we might receive an announcement later this year. So provided nothing has changed behind the scenes (we have no idea), then the main historical team should have made a significant amount of progress on the next big historical game by now.

This team has been working on Warhammer II while III was in production, but with II no longer being supported, it's almost certain that this team is already working on post-launch content for III. This team has obviously been working on Warhammer III.įantasy new-content team. This team seems to be responsible for post-launch support and content, and with Three Kingdoms being discontinued in late last year, they might've have rejoined the main historical team. With Three Kingdoms having launched back in May 2019, we have no idea what this team has been working on since. With Troy wrapping up development, they will presumably be in pre-production for the next saga title. Assuming that things are still the same, there are several different teams working at the same time.

The last time we got an update about the different teams was in early 2019, before Three Kingdoms came out.
